As a small business owner, I know how it is sometimes to feel like you are not coming out on top. Things are constantly changing and sometimes it can feel like we are treading water. One of the best things I could possible do for my business is celebrate my small wins with just or even more praise as my big ones. We get so caught up in achieving the bigger goal we don’t realize how those smaller ones got us there and through it all. Today, I want to talk on the subject of celebrate your wins in business with less than $50 a month.
I am an avid speaker on money should be reinvested back into your business verse going out and buying Michael Kors bags or whatever. Mainly, because when I launched ICB Consults so many of my clients where so excited to hit goals, especially their sales goal and blow it on a bag or something. Your revenue is not all yours, but that is another blog post for another time. Here are several things you can do to celebrate your wins in business and reinvest in your self-care.
Movies
This is something I was doing once a week when I lived in Dallas. I would go to the Angelika in Mocking Bird Station every Sunday to watch a movie and walk around. Always seeing some indie flick that I couldn’t see somewhere else. In Killeen, every Tuesday the movie is $5 no matter the time. That on average depending on the month is actually $20-$25 a month. You can even get snacks at the theater maybe twice. Its great to get away and zone into a story for 90 minutes plus.
Dinner or Drinks
You can have drinks or dinner with your friends once a week long as you keep it under $10 per visit. Which isn’t hard if you link up during happy hour where you can get more bang for your buck. I know when you’re paying off debt or running a business you feel you have to cut time with your friend because you are trying to get life right. This small ten dollar investment goes very far. To even sweeten the deal see if there is a groupon going on where you can get a gift card for more money.
Yoga
Yes, I realize I live in a relatively small town but Class Pass is in larger cities and pretty affordable. I think self-care is so important and one of the reasons so many small business owners feel depleted. They are not investing in themselves or their health as much as they need to. My local yoga studio is $39 a month. That leaves me an extra $11 a month. Which could go to me eating at Rosa’s on Tuesday for $3.99 and a ticket to the movies
Concert
Being 45 minutes from Austin, I know at any given time I can go to a concert any day of the night. Two years ago for my birthday a group of friends and I went to Stubbs to see a band for $11. It was such a great experience. I have also had friends see Wale, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown and more by buying tickets on Groupon.
Outfit
One of my favorite places to shop on discount is Gap. They have great casual and professional and the best thing is they are always having a sale. I have purchased so many shoes for $12 or so that went on super sale. Buying a cute outfit that makes you feel good is always a plus. You can also buy the cute piece from a small business owner, that way you are supporting someone and getting a piece you love.
Flowers
This is more of invest for my business that I do weekly for the fact I am filming Youtube videos. However, if your not using them to brighten up your videos like I am doing seeing roses, peonies or tulips in your home can brighten your day. I go to my local grocery store once a week and spend $15 or so on buying two sets of a dozen.
Save Up
So, if there is something you really want such as a purse then yes, save your $50 a month treat up to buy the purse. Just know you will depriving yourself of doing the other things listed if you opted to do the save up route. Which I know this works for so many people. If you are wanting a high ticket item I suggest price matching and trying to finding it at a lower rate. When I wanted an Alexander Wang skirt that was around $190 I stalked it for months. As I was saving it went down to $150 and I had a 30% off coupon.
These are just seven ways you can celebrate your wins in business with less than $50 a month. I am betting you can come up with several things you can do. Make sure you add the line to your budget and celebrate yourself.
