What’s your biggest accomplishment?

As it relates to business, it would be taking my dream of launching a nail lacquer collection and making it a reality!

What are three books you would recommend to our readers?

I love The Alchemist! It’s such a great story on listening to your heart and following your dreams. I would also recommend “The Martha Rules“. It’s a very easy read with lots of valuable insight. She shares 10 essentials for achieving success as you start, build or manage a business. I also love “The $100 Start up.” It’s a shame that people think they must have a million dollars in order to start a business. This book shares the success stories of individuals who started businesses with almost nothing.

What’s your advice to someone interested in starting their own business?

The first step is to make a commitment!  Then take action and stay focused and hang on tight for the roller coaster ride to come.  It’s important to keep pushing through during the good and tough times.

Where do you receive inspiration?

I’m inspired by people who’ve achieved similar goals. An entrepreneur who has directly inspired me is Marcia Kilgore, the founder of Bliss Spa.  She’s an esthetician, entrepreneur and well-respected beauty authority who began giving facials in her New York City apartment. This led to her opening her first business, and eventually founding Bliss Spa, and the Bliss and Remede beauty product lines.  The luxury good conglomerate, Moet Hennessey Louis Vuitton (LVMH) acquired 70% of the company in 1999, resulting in a $30 million deal.  And, in 2004, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. acquired the company, which is why we now see Bliss Spas in W Hotels.  Fearless entrepreneurs, such as Marcia, keep me inspired and pushing to achieve my dreams. What's In Your Bag Kitiya Givenchy Nightingale bag

If you could have one famous entrepreneur as your mentor who would it be?

Oprah – for so many obvious reasons!

Do you feel your life is balanced between work life and personal life? What is your favorite thing about running your own business?

No, I don’t – at least not right now.  But I do think you can have it all, just not all at the same time. My favorite thing about running my own business is being a source of inspiration for women and encouraging them to follow their dreams!
