What’s in Your Bag: Affluent Agency

1. Samsung 2. Makeup bag 3. Mac Lipstick 4. Mirror 5. Perfume 6. Gum 7. Journal 8. Sunglasses 9. Business Cards

What’s your biggest accomplishment? My biggest accomplishment was appearing on national television with the launch of my company, and being able to display to the world what I love to do–PR and events.

What are three books you would recommend to our readers? The Bible, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and The Four Agreements by Miguel Angel Ruiz. All three are the reason why I’m the person I am today. After reading The Alchemist, my life was never the same, and I encourage anyone who is taking a leap of faith in business to read the book.
What is the biggest lesson you have learned since launching? Depend on no one but yourself. Only you know the vision and passion you possess. As cliché as the saying is, it’s very true. If you want something done, you have to do it yourself. People will only lend a hand of support for so long. No one can make your vision come alive better than YOU.
What’s your advice to someone interested in starting their own business?  Make sure you know all the ins and outs of your field.  Make sure you are pursuing it for the right reasons (outside of income alone). The money doesn’t come easily so if that’s your only motivation, quit now.
Where do you receive inspiration? I receive inspiration from seeing people fearfully follow their dreams and succeed. I find it from testimonies, strangers, reading daily quotes, reading my Bible every day, seeing signs on billboards. Mostly, I receive inspiration from random things. Mimi Handbag WIYB
If you could have one famous entrepreneur as your mentor who would it be?  Tyler Perry. His testimony alone–from being homeless and living in the back of his car, to being one of the top paid people in film–is remarkable. I’d be honored to just soak up his knowledge about the industry.
Do you feel like your life is balanced between work and personal time? When I first started this, I was a mess! I had no personal life at all; just work, work, work and more work. I didn’t care if I had dates or plans, as soon as something work related came up, I cancelled them and went to work. At the end of the day, I was extremely lonely. Now, I’ve mastered balance. I make Sundays my work free days with the only exception being award season. I take time out for family, and my significant other. Sometimes I get lucky and I can blend both work and personal by having my family, and friends be my plus one to an event or premiere.
What is your favorite thing about running your own business? My favorite part is being my own boss and making my own schedule. I have a problem with authority and I love the fact that I call all the shots!
What is your most indispensable gadget: My cell phone. I literally do 80% of work on it, and it lives in my hand.

What’s your favorite app?  Instagram. I love the fact that people can see the world through my eyes with a simple touch of a button.

What’s your favorite account to follow on Twitter:  Rihanna, I love how raw and real she is in an industry/world where the greater majority is afraid to be real and their true selves.

Favorite item in your closet: My cropped leather jacket. I love how it makes any outfit instantly edgy yet elegant if it’s paired correctly.
