As of the third quarter of 2014, Facebook averages 1.35 billion monthly active users. That is a ginormous amount of people in your arms reach, if you have a Facebook fan page. Chances are you thought no I don’t need one. Twitter and Instagram work better for my small business. However, if you decide to create or design a Facebook fan page here is your go to guide on how.
Creating Your Facebook Fan Page
To start making your business page, go to https://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php. You will see a showcase of six different classifications to choose from:
- Local Business or Place
- Company, Organization, or Institution
- Brand or Product
- Artist, Band, or Public Figure
- Entertainment
- Cause or Community
Please select the one that reflects your business. As you enter your information. Please use your company name. Spell it correctly and make sure it can be easily found. Also, when you select subcategories make sure they reflect your business.
Add About Page: Make sure this page is well-crafted and focused on your business and its target audience. Add social media links, websites, phone number, etc.
How to Design Your Facebook Fan Page
Add Profile Photo: This can be your company logo or a well-designed graphic. Make sure it is 180 x 180 in size.
Add Apps: These are links to your store, Etsy, Instagram, Bloglovin, Mailchimp as well as other outlets you use. The best part about the apps are you can make them look beautiful and customize them to your brand.
Change App design
- Go to Facebook fan page
- Click on “edit page”
- Click on “update information”
- Find “apps”
- Click on “edit settings”
After doing all that you can upload amazing designs you personally created, someone from Fiverr did, or you purchased off of Etsy.
Add Cover Photo: Think of this as your Call To Action banner for Facebook. You don’t have to constantly change it you, but I highly suggest rotating it monthly to highlight products, services, and other business related materials. The sizing for your cover photo is 851 x 315. Also, note a small section of the left corner of this graphic will be covered by your profile photo.
Creating and designing a Facebook fan page is really simple and will take you less than 30 minutes if you are solely focused on this project. If you still don’t know if this is for you, check out Social Media For Small Business to seek some guidance.
