What’s your biggest accomplishment?
Taking the plunge into self employment. Trusting my instincts and jumping in with both feet has allowed me to create the life I’ve always wanted for myself.
What are three books you would recommend to our readers?
- If You Have to Cry, Go Outsideby Kelly Cutrone
- The Social Animal by David Brooks
- Why Men Love Bitches by Sherry Argov
What’s the biggest lesson you have learned since launching?
To always listen to my gut instincts. Not to wait on ideas because it’s all about timing.
What’s your advice to someone interested in starting their own business?
Just do it! If you have an idea, run with it. The number one, most important idea in business is not what your product or service is, but being the first to do it and do it well. Spend time researching what you need to do and the rest will fall into place. Good things come to those who work hard… not those who wait. Because someone else will do it first!
Where do you receive inspiration?
Inspiration comes to me from the most obvious and unconventional places. Whether it’s my friends, family, Instagram, Pinterest, my city of Vancouver or the lifestyle of who I think my customer is…My thoughts are constantly moving forward.
If you could have one famous entrepreneur as your mentor who would it be?
Hands down, Victoria Beckham. What that woman has done is very inspiring to me. I have been a fan of hers since I was 5 years old and to see her go from a no name to a pop star, wife, mother and then fashion industry mogul makes the hairs on my arms stand up. She has set such a standard in the fashion industry and demands and receives respect from all of the biggest players…all while raising a beautiful family. Now that’s rad.
Do you feel your life is balanced between work life and your personal life?
Although I set my own hours and am in charge of my own schedule, finding a balance between work life and personal life seems to be nonexistent most of the time. On an average day I will most likely be working from the moment I wake up and grab my phone to the minute I fall asleep after a last minute email. In this day of age with businesses being ran off social media, I am constantly keeping my followers updated with the day to day of my blog and prints. Mix that in with all of the grit work that allows a business to run and you’ve got yourself a full day. My friends and family understand…
