Search engine optimization (SEO) is everyone’s favorite subject matter to talk about {says sarcastically}. However, if you search on pinterest or join a group chat on twitter, it’s the topic of choice. Experts realize this increases their site views. Brilliant in a sense. SEO can however be really confusing — especially when you are new to small business. Algorithms are constantly changing and the top companies who are the gatekeepers on the subject are tight lipped about it.
So to make it easier for you, I have complied a list of books that have helped me when I first launched a business and currently continue to help me. They are all brilliant books that cover the basics. As you may know, we are adamant that people learn the basics before launching a business. It’s important to have a solid foundation in order to create a profitable business.
The Social Media Bible: This book is my favorite book to refer people to who are just starting their journey into business. It covers a wide variety of topics for you and gives you an overview of different platforms and how they were created. This gives you some great insight to SEO.
Search Engine Optimization For Dummies: Literally all things regarding SEO are broken down for your better understanding in layman’s terms. None of that fancy stuff that’s all over pinterest in the how to guide section. This gave me a lot of insight when I was first starting out.
The Small Business Owner’s Handbook to Search Engine Optimization: This book is slightly outdated now, but when I launched my company five years ago it was tremendously helpful to me. You can get it for a penny if you still want to gain knowledge to help you understand SEO.
SEO for WordPress: I actually recently discovered this kindle edition on SEO. It is only 79 pages which is a very light read. At the time when I downloaded, it was free, so that is an add.
It is always important to note that SEO is constantly changing.
In addition, these books cover the basics you might already have a current knowledge of. However, I am a firm believer in learning and growing in business. If you want to read some past articles on the subject matter check out: Image Alt Tags, Creative Start-ups, How Search Engines Work and we have so many more on the subject of SEO .
What you don’t need leave, and the rest retain and share with others. Have you read any of these books before? Have you read any of our other articles on search engine optimization? What are your thoughts on it?
