What’s your biggest accomplishment?
Enduring this entrepreneurship journey for over 10 years without throwing in the towel! I’ve experienced so many ups and downs. But, I always remember that I have the opportunity to produce content for major networks such as MTV, BET, TV One, WB, and for media moguls such as Sean “Diddy” Combs. I also have the ability to provide vintage costuming for many artists/celebrities including R & B superstar, Miguel. That makes it all worth it! Still, I would have to say my biggest accomplishment would be having the faith to use my gifts in multi-media and fashion to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was very apprehensive when I decided to use this platform. There wasn’t a blueprint for me to follow, but I decided to go with my heart. By doing this, so many doors have opened.
What are three books you would recommend to our readers?
What’s the biggest lesson you have learned since launching?
When I stop growing (personally), my brand stops growing. I am a firm believer that I am my brand, so in order for me to excel professionally, I must excel personally.
What’s your advice to someone interested in starting their own business?
Keep God first through prayer. Eliminate all distractions because when you focus on the purpose of others, it will taint the creativity required to operate your business. I also suggest using your current platform to share your gift–business. Once you take advantage of your current platform, many doors will open up. Even if it’s just for your family and friends, always share your gift. Last but not least: be creative and use your resources. We tend to miss opportunities while waiting on resources. If you wait on others to move you forward, you will be waiting forever.
Where do you receive inspiration?
Im inspired by God’s word and His love. I’m also inspired by people who struggle mentally, emotionally and spiritually because it drives me to enlighten them on how they can turn their pain into beauty.
If you could have one famous entrepreneur as your mentor who would it be? Oprah! I feel her heart in everything she touches. She’s matured before the entire world and right now, her OWN network is overflow of her wisdom and heart. She’s giving many up-and-coming leaders a platform to use their gifts to inspire, heal and educate.
Do you feel your life is balanced between work life and your personal life? While it’s often a struggle, I do feel balanced…for the most part. Not having balance disrupts my peace, and I am completely ineffective when I’m not at peace. I try to place boundaries in my life that allow me to become centered for the upcoming day, week, month and year.
