Leveraging HARO To Grow Your Small Business

Help A Report Out has become my best friend in only three weeks. HARO is a website that helps reporters and freelancers get leads and quotes for their stories. As a small business owner it is extremely hard to get press without having a PR firm behind you.

HARO helps me out because I lack a connection to publications. Connections that reach out to publications greatly help small businesses. Since joining the site, I have been interviewed for several major publications, which is really cool. Each freelancer asked to keep me on their source list for other stories that might come up. .

HARO is designed to send you an email based on the categories you select for your needs. For example, I receive the business focused emails, but they have general, health, family and much more. In the past, I have sent information to friends that I know would be an amazing resource for platforms. Yes, at times it can be slightly overwhelming receiving the emails, but this is a free resource to help you.

There are other platforms that are alternatives to utilizing HARO for your business, and this website breaks it down for you.Regardless if you go with this platform or the alternatives, the main goal is growing your business through features and press. A couple of tips to help you with pitching your business when being selected to have ready to email off to journalist.

  • A pitch 100 words or less
  • A Pitch 300 words or less
  • Headshot
  • List of your social media names
  • Link to your website

Leveraging platforms such as; HARO to help scale your small business is something that takes more leg work, but getting link backs from websites with higher Domain Ranking/Authority helps you with your SEO reach on search enginges
