The Art Of Selling Your Products Like A Boss

In Utilizing A Landing Page To Grow Your Audience, I let you know that launching a company website without properly notifying anyone is a no, no. So is selling your products with no audience. My favorite thing to say is “nobody knows you”. How are you going to sell something when nobody knows you exist? I’m going to break down the art of selling your products like a boss.

Blogging Get Busy

If your company website (the commerce engine part) will not be ready for 2 to 3 months, then use this time to blog. Let’s be completely honest, you have nothing else to do. You don’t have any clients or customers blowing up your inbox. Use tools such as; CoSchedule, a tool that integrates with your WordPress website to have an editorial calendar. This is the perfect time to not only build an audience that trust you, but to also establish loyalty to your brand with them. Stick to a two post per week schedule. This does not include the 16 blog post I mentioned in the Launch Week eBook to have prewritten specifically for launch. This is just straight content that gets you entry way into the mark. Now, interject discussion about your upcoming business. This will help you segment your readers into customers.

Social Media Is Your Friend

You already spend half of your day on there posting selfies, talking about tacos, or commenting on your friend’s page about their new shoe purchase. Okay those are really occurrences from my life, but I’m fairly certain you do some version of this. Establish a schedule to start sharing your business. I believe in the 80/20 rule when it comes to social media. 80% of the content you share is about your business and 20% is about others. For your Twitter schedule, tweet something like this:

  • 8am-> 20% Tweet (very general topic; Good Morning,  Beautiful day in the neighborhood.)
  • 12pm-> 80% Tweet (blog post)
  • 3pm-> 20% Tweet (about someone else’s business or pose a question)
  • 5pm-> 80% Tweet (about a product or service)
  • 9pm-> 80% Tweet (about signing up for your newsletter)

My tweets are scheduled like this, but I insert content between them. Most of the time I forget that I scheduled something, then I end up coming back to 20 mentions. On platforms such as Instagram; curate content that is perceived more as lifestyle than a big sales catalog. On Imperfect Concepts IG, I share what I am wearing during the day, behind the scenes, content, quotes, and other things related to my business life. I use the outfit post for my 20% content portion, it’s less about business and more about me as a person, so my audience can connect with me.

Be Passionate

Everyone you meet is a potential customer or a friend of a potential customer. Make a goal to speak to 5 strangers a day. Have business cards ready. This doesn’t have to be an elevator pitch, its just you talking about your passion. Your company is your passion. A couple of Sunday’s ago, church was over and I was talking to Kasey, our church’s communications director’s, wife. In the midst of talking about my business, I was able to talk about my friend, Raquel’s company, Baiser Marsai. This is the perfect example to showcase my passion of consulting women, and giving her a real life company to connect the dots to.

Too many business owners want sales but don’t want to sell their products or services. They become timid and shy almost in an instant. To sell your products or services like a boss, you need to put your big girl panties on, and put yourself & your company out there.

Finally, no hard sells. People know when they are being sold to. No one likes to be sold to. We like to believe that we came to the conclusion on, even though, subconsciously we were sold to through a business strategy plan. It’s all about psychology when it comes to winning in business.
