What’s your biggest accomplishment? My biggest accomplishment thus far is actually launching Jolie Bloom. I’ve been wanting to create and own an all natural beauty brand for years, but have always talked myself out of it. I finally found the confidence to do it and it feels amazing to have pushed through the fear. The response has been great, now I wonder what I was so scared of.

What are three books you would recommend to our readers?
1. #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso
2. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
3. The ABCs of Making Money by Dr. Denis Cauvier and Alan Lysaght
 Jolie Bloom Book Recommendations
What’s the biggest lesson you have learned since launching? I’ve learned that my business requires a lot more time each day than I imagined. I knew that it wouldn’t be traditional work schedule, but I still under estimated how much time is necessary on a day to day basis. That could also be because I have no employees as yet and am also juggling a day job.
What’s your advice to someone interested in starting their own business?
Research, study and consistently repeat.
Where do you receive inspiration? I receive a lot of inspiration from everyday conversation with people. In my industry, I hear a lot of complaints and then use the feedback to create products that solve that problem. Every time someone says “I wish I had a product that _______”, my ears instantly perk up and I begin to ask questions. For example, people often complain about finding a body lotion that is exceptionally moisturizing without being too heavy or greasy. I’m pretty confident that I have created that product! It’s in the final stages of testing and should be available on our website in the upcoming weeks.
WIYB Jolie Bloom BagIf you could have one famous entrepreneur as your mentor who would it be? Richard Branson – he eats, sleeps and breathes his brand. He can tell you everything about his offerings because he a customer of his own business. Through using his products, he get’s the customer experience and is able to properly critique his goods and services.
Do you feel your life is balanced between work life and your personal life? Absolutely not! I’m the artisan, customer service rep, PR person and more for my brand. When it comes to my business I do 98% of it myself, with the exception of graphic design and packing boxes. My husband and I stay up after we’ve put our 1 year old to bed to pack products for shipment. I then use my lunch break during my 9-5 to mail packages to my customers. I also run a style and beauty blog called Belle Jheanell which takes up some of my time as well. Somewhere in between work, business, motherhood and being a wife, I try to squeeze in some “me time”. Truthfully, that’s usually only for a short period every few weeks or so. My husband pointed out to me that it’s likely I’ll have to give up my 9-5 sooner than I’d plan in order to give Jolie Bloom my full attention. To be quite honest, I don’t think I’ll ever achieve balance which is why I know that I have to do what I love on a day to day basis.
